Pancreatitis is inflammation of the pancreas. This disease causes a person discomfort and a lot of inconvenience. These include a limited diet in which you can only eat certain foods. Only proper nutrition and a selected diet will help normalize your well-being and maintain remission.
Some patients are interested in whether it is acceptable to use jelly for pancreatitis? This is a drink known to many since childhood, which is a jelly-like liquid. For preparation, potato or corn starch and some additives (sugar, dairy products, jam, berries or fruits) are used.
Is it possible to use jelly for pancreatitis?
This gelatinous drink is able to envelop the gastric walls, protect the mucous membranes from excess acidity, regulate the release of bile, normalize stool, improve gastrointestinal motility and saturate the body with vitamins. That is, the answer to the question: “Is it possible to drink jelly with pancreatitis?” - will be affirmative. Moreover, this drink even needs to be consumed for such a disease.
It is worth noting that pancreatitis in most cases takes a chronic form. It constantly alternates between periods of exacerbation and remission. Kissel can be consumed at any stage of the disease. In addition, it is able to prolong the period of remission. Therefore, doctors recommend including this drink as a main component in your diet. It can be a breakfast, an afternoon snack, a dessert after a big lunch, or just a treat for a snack.
Recommendations for using jelly
This nutritious drink is very healthy, but it must be drunk only according to the established rules. Frequent violation of at least one point can contribute to the worsening of the disease.
During the first stage of exacerbation, it is better to completely refuse food for two days. You can only drink purified water. This will give the digestive systems the necessary rest and normalize the production of pancreatic enzymes.
After three days, if you have pancreatitis, you can drink jelly in small quantities. After fasting, the maximum permissible daily volume is 100-150 milliliters. At this stage, oatmeal and milk jelly are more suitable.
After another 3-5 days, the volume of jelly consumed can be increased to 250 milliliters. It is not recommended to add any fruit or berry flavorings to it.
If the remission is sufficiently stable, then the jelly can be consumed in unlimited quantities. Doctors do not recommend preparing it with sour fruits or berries, as this can negatively affect the mucous membranes of the digestive organ.
If you follow the above recommendations, then jelly will play a huge role in achieving a positive result.
What kind of jelly should I drink?
The main products from which jelly is prepared are water and starch. Depending on taste preferences, milk, berry or fruit juice is added to it. If desired, the cook also adds one of the sweeteners: sugar, stevia or honey. Some people prefer to make this drink using flaxseeds or oats. Each type of jelly for pancreatitis is useful in its own way. When choosing a drink, you can rely on your own preferences. However, there are a number of significant points that must be taken into account.
- It is better to prepare the drink entirely yourself, using only high-quality and fresh products.
- It is not recommended to buy powdered jelly in bags and boxes because they contain components that are harmful to this disease. These are flavoring additives, aromas, dyes, citric acid and other chemicals. If you take powdered jelly, you need to carefully study the composition.
- Kissel can have different consistency, which depends on the amount of starch. For pancreatitis, a medium thickness of the drink is recommended. This can be achieved by taking 40 grams of starch per liter of water. Then the drink will be quite fluid. If you take 80 grams of starch, the jelly will turn out very thick. If it’s 30 grams, then it’s semi-liquid.
- Doctors recommend consuming warm jelly for pancreatitis of the pancreas. So it will not irritate the mucous membranes of this organ. It is better to avoid hot and chilled drinks.
Oatmeal jelly
For pancreatitis, this type of drink is often prepared for the pancreas. The recipe was developed by virologist Vladimir Izotov. His method is quite time-consuming, but very useful.
So, the ingredients for the healing drink.
- Kefir – 100 milliliters.
- Oatmeal – half a kilogram.
- Crushed oat grains - 10 tablespoons.
- Boiled warm water – 3 liters.
Place oats and oatmeal in a large glass container. Pour in warm water and kefir. The container should not be filled to the very top. Leave the container covered in a dark and warm place for 1-2 days. During this time, the mass should ferment: it will begin to separate and bubble. Strain the liquid through a fine sieve; the remaining thick sediment can be thrown away. The cloudy water should be allowed to stand for another day. A white dense mass will form at the bottom, and liquid will remain on top that needs to be removed. Some people do this using a tube. Place the sediment in sterile jars, screw on the lid and put it in the refrigerator. This jelly base can be stored for 3 weeks.
To prepare the drink, you need to dilute 2-3 tablespoons of sediment in a glass of cold water. Cook over low heat for 3-7 minutes, stirring occasionally with a wooden spatula. That's all for preparing oatmeal jelly. For pancreatitis, you can add honey and fruit to it if desired. It is better to drink the drink fresh before lunch.
Preparing the oatmeal jelly base
Pour the cereal into a clean three-liter jar. If the flakes are packaged (in factory packaging), then there is no need to pre-rinse them. If purchased by weight, it is better to rinse them first.
Pour the flakes with boiled water cooled to approximately 30°C (the water should be slightly warm). Hot or cold water cannot be used - hot water kills beneficial microorganisms, and cold water slows down the fermentation process.
Add kefir to the jar and stir with a wooden spoon.
Close the jar with a lid or put a rubber medical glove on the neck. During fermentation, carbon dioxide will be released, so if you increase the proportions (add more water and flakes), always make sure that there is a layer of air between the lid and the contents of the jar, otherwise the lid will simply rip off.
Cover the jar with a dark bag or wrap it in a towel so that the contents are not exposed to sunlight, which destroys beneficial vitamins. Place the jar in a warm place. The optimal temperature for fermentation is 28-30°C.
After 24-48 hours, remove the jar. Its contents look like this:
It is not recommended to keep the jar warm for more than 2 days, since the taste of the jelly changes and can become unpleasant, and some of the beneficial properties are lost.
Strain the contents of the jar into a saucepan through a sieve or colander lined with cheesecloth.
Pour the resulting cloudy white liquid into a clean jar:
Rinse the flakes in a sieve over a saucepan with 2 liters of clean boiled water. We get another 2 liters of liquid, which also needs to be poured into another jar. If you plan to use oat kvass, then in order not to confuse the liquid from these jars in the future (it has different acidity), it is better to number them or mark them somehow.
Close both jars with lids and leave to settle for another 10-12 hours at room temperature. As a result we get:
Carefully drain the top layer of liquid without shaking. It is most convenient to use a tube. This is oat kvass, pleasant to the taste, refreshing, with a slight sourness. It can be drunk or used to prepare okroshka, but only during a period of stable remission. In this case, the kvass from the first jar will be more sour (it is undesirable to use it if you have pancreatitis).
Pour the sediment from both jars into one jar - this is the basis for oatmeal jelly (or oatmeal jelly concentrate). It should be stored in the refrigerator (up to 3 weeks). Oatmeal jelly concentrate is used for preparing jelly and for fermenting a new base instead of kefir.
Cranberry jelly
It is allowed to drink it in small quantities if the disease has become chronic. In the acute phase, this drink is prohibited, since cranberries have a laxative effect and increase acidity in the stomach.
Kissel is prepared from the following ingredients.
- Water – 1 liter.
- Cranberries – 1 cup.
- Starch - 2 tablespoons.
- Honey - a tablespoon.
Sort the berries and rinse under water. Grind with a blender until pureed. In a separate bowl, dilute the starch with a small amount of liquid. Pour water into a saucepan and boil. Transfer the berry puree and gradually add the diluted starch. Cook for about 5 minutes. After cooling, add honey. Cranberry jelly is ready!
Currant jelly
This drink is prepared from the following ingredients.
- Water – 2.3 liters.
- Currant berries - half a kilogram.
- Starch – 85 grams.
- Honey – 3 tablespoons.
Pour 2 liters of water into a saucepan, add berries. When it boils, cook for about 10 minutes and remove from heat. Meanwhile, dilute starch in a glass (300 milliliters) and gradually pour into the pan, stirring constantly. The drink should have a uniform consistency. It needs to be boiled again for a few minutes. After cooling, you can drink the jelly. For pancreatitis, it is useful to add honey to the drink immediately before drinking.
Apple jelly
This drink can be drunk unsweetened only on the fifth day of exacerbation of the disease. After the signs of pancreatitis disappear or weaken, it is allowed to add sugar and other fruits (plums, apricots, etc.) to the drink.
- Water – 2.15 liters.
- Potato starch - 3 tablespoons.
- Fresh apples – 550 grams.
- Sugar – half a glass.
Wash the apples and remove the core and seeds. Cut into slices, place in a saucepan and add two liters of water. After boiling, cook for about 7 minutes and turn off the heat. Dilute the starch with the remaining water and add it into the pan in small portions, stirring. Bring to a boil again, keep on fire for no more than 4 minutes. After cooling, you can drink the drink.
Flaxseed jelly
This drink is able to eliminate the source of the inflammatory process and protect the mucous membranes of the digestive system. Doctors recommend the following recipe for jelly for pancreatitis.
- Water – 1050 milliliters.
- Flaxseeds – 4 tablespoons.
- Natural honey – 2 teaspoons.
Grind the flax to a powder. Pour into a glass and add 50 milliliters of heated water. Mix well. Boil a liter of water in a saucepan. Transfer the flax mixture, stirring with a whisk. You need to achieve a uniform consistency. When the jelly boils, you can turn off the heat. After cooling, add honey.
Doctors recommend drinking flaxseed jelly in small portions on an empty stomach. It will give results only if taken regularly. It is also important to observe the proportions and cooking technology.
Milk jelly
Milk contains a lot of easily digestible calcium. When taken regularly, it can normalize the intestinal microflora, remove toxins from the body and strengthen the immune system. Milk jelly will be even healthier. For pancreatitis, doctors recommend the following recipe.
- Milk (2.5%) – half a liter.
- Water – 150 milliliters.
- Potato starch - 1.5 tablespoons.
- Sugar – 2 tablespoons.
Boil milk in a saucepan. In a separate bowl, dilute the starch with cold water. When the milk boils, add sugar and stir until it dissolves. Then you can gradually pour in the starch mixture. Continue cooking for another 10 minutes. After cooling, you can drink the drink.
If you have pancreatitis, you can and should use jelly. But it is important to follow all the above recommendations so as not to harm the body even more.
Pancreatitis is severe inflammation. In pathology, pancreatic enzymes, having no outlet into the duodenum, are activated in the organ itself, destroying tissue. A digestive system disorder occurs. Among the main causes of pancreatitis are alcohol abuse, fatty, spicy and smoked foods, gallbladder disease, genetic predisposition, and abdominal trauma. Acute and chronic forms of the disease are known.
An important component of treatment for inflammation of the pancreas will be proper nutrition and adherence to a strict diet. In acute cases of the disease, fasting is prescribed for the first 2-3 days. It is allowed to drink small portions of still mineral water heated to 37 degrees or rose hip decoction. Subsequently, after the patient’s condition has stabilized, a special diet is prescribed. Infusions, fried and uncooked smoked foods, fresh bread and baked goods, raw vegetables and fruits are excluded from the diet. Take food in small portions 5-6 times a day. When preparing dishes, products are boiled or baked, grinding until they become mushy. Recommended drinks include weak tea, compotes and jelly.

How to prepare milk jelly:
Let's prepare the necessary ingredients - milk, sugar, starch, water. Bring milk to a boil
To prevent the milk from burning, you need to take an aluminum pan or one with a thick bottom.
Rinse the pan with cold water before pouring in the milk. Place the pan with milk on the stove. Bring to a boil over medium heat. We dilute starch in water
How to properly dilute starch in water?
— Take the required amount of boiled and cooled water and add it to the starch and stir. Under no circumstances should you use hot water - the starch will cook into clumps. Add sugar to boiling milk and stir, then, with continuous stirring, pour in the diluted starch in a thin stream. Milk jelly should be cooked with constant stirring for 8-10 minutes. (I don’t know why it takes so long. In other sources, I read, you should bring it to a boil, but not boil. It’s up to you) Pour jelly from milk into glasses. Should be drunk warm . Bon appetit!
Kissel for pancreatitis and its benefits
Kissel for pancreatitis is a rare dish that can be consumed in the acute stage. On these days, it is important to reduce the amount of pancreatic enzymes, avoiding new attacks. Kissel copes with the task; the slightly alkaline environment of the drink neutralizes the acid of the gastric juice.
Thanks to its viscous consistency, jelly envelops the walls of the intestines and stomach without causing irritation and is well absorbed. Increases motility of the gastrointestinal tract, normalizes stool. A glass of a nutritious drink can replace a full breakfast or afternoon snack. Most often they prepare milk, fruit and berry or oatmeal jelly.
Fruit and berry jelly
On days 4-5 from the onset of the disease, fruit and berry jelly is added to the diet. Prepared from canned juices or purees, preferably from fresh fruits and berries, which contain more vitamins and healthy fiber. Any fruit is suitable, with the exception of citrus fruits and cranberries. The cooking technology is simple. Starch is diluted with cold water and carefully poured into boiling water. When the liquid thickens, add chopped fruits or berries and boil for 2 minutes, preserving the beneficial substances. The jelly is cooled and filtered through a sieve. Sweeten with sugar substitutes. It's better to use honey.
Fresh fruits can be successfully replaced with dried ones. Dried fruits are boiled, filtered, starch is added to the resulting broth and sweetened with honey. Nutritionists recommend cooking jelly from prunes, dried apricots, pears and apples.
A possible preparation option is to use preserves and jams instead of fresh or dried fruits, diluting them to the desired consistency. Jelly made from jam is prepared faster, but contains few useful substances and is not recommended for use in the acute stage of the disease. Doctors are often asked the question: is it allowed to use ready-made concentrates in powder or briquettes? The answer is negative. You cannot cook jelly from ready-made mixtures! They contain flavorings, dyes and other components that can harm the digestive system and cause a sharp exacerbation of the disease.
Milk jelly
Milk, which becomes the basis for the recipe for making jelly, is a source of useful substances, including calcium, which is easily absorbed by the body, helps restore the functioning of the digestive system and speedy recovery. Considering the nature of the disease, milk for jelly is chosen with a low fat content.
The milk is brought to a boil and sweetened with honey or sugar syrup. It is not forbidden to add spices - cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg. Pour in the starch solution in a thin stream and cook to the desired consistency, stirring constantly. Eat warm as an independent dish or as an addition to soufflés, casseroles, and crumbly porridges.
Oatmeal jelly
Nutritionists and gastroenterologists agree that oatmeal jelly is most useful for pancreatitis because:
- Normalizes intestinal motility, eliminates dysbiosis.
- Serves as an excellent adsorbent, absorbing toxins and other harmful substances.
- Has no contraindications.
- Indicated for use already on the third day after the onset of the disease.
Let's take a simple recipe for making oatmeal jelly. Oatmeal - oatmeal is diluted with water and put on fire. Cook, stirring until thick, strain, getting rid of lumps, cool and drink. This drink is undoubtedly useful.
Real medicinal oatmeal jelly is prepared differently. His recipe was patented by doctor Vladimir Izotov in 1992, bringing together the experience of ancient healers and the achievements of modern medicine. The drink is called Izotov’s jelly.
Healing jelly Izotov
To prepare the drink you will need 3 cups of Hercules oatmeal, half a cup of low-fat kefir and three liters of warm water.
The flakes are poured into a jar, filled with water, kefir is added and mixed. The jar is taken in a large volume so that the water does not reach the edges, otherwise, as a result of fermentation, the liquid will spill out. Close the jar and place it in a dark place for 2 days. After this time, the contents are filtered through a sieve or gauze. The resulting liquid is drained, two liters of water are added to the remaining flakes, mixed well, and filtered. The resulting liquid is added to the jar and left at room temperature for 12 hours.
As a result, the contents of the jar are divided into two layers. There will be liquid on top, or oat kvass, at the bottom there will be a white sediment - sour oat concentrate. It must be carefully separated, placed in containers and stored in the refrigerator for up to three weeks. This is how the semi-finished product of Izotov’s famous jelly is obtained. In the future, when fermenting the next batch of oatmeal, it is allowed to ferment not with kefir, but with a small amount of concentrate.
To prepare medicinal jelly, 50-100 grams of concentrate are diluted in a liter of boiled water and boiled over low heat. The cooking time depends on the consistency of the final product. On average, 10-15 minutes. Honey, jam or dried fruits - raisins, dried apricots, figs - are added to the finished drink, and seasoned with cream, berry syrups or butter. The list depends on the permitted products. Drink jelly warm at any time of the day. It is advisable that three hours pass between consumption and the next meal.
The unique properties of Izotov’s jelly are manifested in the treatment of diseases of the pancreas and gastrointestinal tract. The results of studies have shown that regular consumption of the drink strengthens the cardiovascular system, relieves fatigue, increases performance, improves the condition of the body, and strengthens the immune system.
Inflammation of the pancreas is a disease whose treatment largely depends on diet. You will have to give up many familiar and favorite foods not only during an exacerbation, but also during remission of the disease. Kissel for pancreatitis is one of the few products that is allowed at any stage of the inflammatory process.
How to prepare oatmeal jelly for pancreatitis according to Dr. Izotov’s recipe
The use of oat jelly is indicated for patients with pancreatitis and gastritis with high acidity. The drink will help minimize the negative effects of pancreatic and pancreatic juices on the mucous membranes of organs. In accordance with the original recipe, the drink is prepared in several stages.
Preparation of the filtrate
To make a tasty, and most importantly healthy drink, first prepare the filtrate. To do this, you must perform the following sequence of actions:
- Pour 3 liters of water into a five-liter jar, which was previously boiled and cooled to room temperature.
- Add 100 g of kefir of any fat content and 0.5 kg of Hercules oatmeal to the water.
- Mix the contents of the jar thoroughly and close the lid.
- Place the jar in a warm place for fermentation for 48 hours.
- After two days, the contents of the jar are filtered through a fine sieve into an enamel bowl. If sediment remains on the sieve, it must be strained again. To do this, the sediment is placed in a jar and filled with water in a ratio of 1:3. Mix everything thoroughly and filter through a sieve again. The resulting filtrate is mixed with the previously filtered mass.
- The strained mass should be infused for another 20 hours. After this, you can observe a clear division of the mass into layers. A liquid should form at the top of the jar, which is then carefully poured into a clean pan. The lower part is occupied by a loose layer of a darker color. It is this part that is used for further preparation of jelly.
The product is filtered through a fine sieve
Preparing jelly
- To finish preparing the jelly, you must do the following:
- The pan with the top layer drained is placed on the fire and brought to a boil.
- In accordance with Izotov’s recipe, cold water and 2 tbsp are poured into the boiling liquid. spoons of diluted concentrate.
- The resulting solution is brought to a boil and left on low heat for another 5 minutes. In this case, the mixture must be constantly stirred with a wooden spoon.
- After the mixture has boiled a little, remove it from the heat and leave to cool until pleasantly warm.
After completing the procedure described above, the finished jelly is adjusted to taste. To do this, add a small amount of salt, honey or sugar to the drink. The original recipe also contains instructions for adding vegetable oil, such as sea buckthorn, to the drink. Modern experts often recommend that their patients with pancreatitis remove salt, sweeteners and vegetable oil from the recipe. Even a small amount of them can cause a deterioration in the patient’s well-being. Despite the fact that Izotov points out the presence of these components in the finished oat drink, modern nutritionists and specialists insist that without these ingredients the drink will only become healthier.
Oatmeal jelly Izotov
If after preparing the drink there is some liquid left from the top layer, you can drink it instead of water. This water has excellent enveloping and healing properties. Oatmeal jelly is drunk instead of breakfast, as an afternoon snack, and when feeling slightly hungry.
Positive properties of jelly for illness
It is a jelly-like thick product. Depending on its thickness, it can be eaten or drunk.
Its consistency and composition have a positive effect on the morphological and functional changes that develop in diseases of the digestive tract.
The main properties of the drink that help relieve the symptoms of pancreatitis:
- Kissel, when it enters the stomach, envelops the mucous membrane, helps to subside inflammation of the digestive organs, including the liver and pancreas.
- In addition to the positive physical effects, jelly, due to its chemical properties, has the ability to alkalize the acidic environment of the stomach and reduce abdominal pain.
- The drink does not have a stimulating effect on the secretion of pancreatic juice and does not provoke the process of self-digestion of the pancreas, which occurs with increased formation of enzymes. This process causes pancreatic necrosis, a condition that requires immediate surgery.
- The product contains many useful substances: amino acids, B vitamins. Oatmeal jelly is especially useful - a healthy dietary drink that stimulates intestinal motility and helps eliminate toxins from the body. Depending on the ingredients that can be used for preparation, different types of drink have additional beneficial properties.
Contraindications for use
Oatmeal drink, like all products, has its contraindications for use. It should not be taken by people suffering from cereal intolerance. Otherwise, this product is actively used to treat various ailments associated with abnormalities in the gastrointestinal tract. If you neglect the norms for taking jelly prescribed by your doctor, side effects such as skin rash, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and upset stool may occur.

The first thing in such cases is to drink a large amount of water and an absorbent (black or white coal, Enterosgel). For rashes, you also need to take an antihistamine (Citrine, L-Cet, Zodak, etc.). If after 6 hours the symptoms do not disappear, then you should call an ambulance.
Oatmeal jelly is a very healthy drink, which is indicated as an adjuvant in the treatment of many gastrointestinal diseases, including pancreatitis. Preparing it at home is very easy and completely inexpensive. The main thing is to follow the rules of use and dosage.
Kissel in the acute stage and remission stage of pancreatitis
Due to its physical properties and chemical composition, it is recommended to be used at any stage of the disease:
- In the acute stage of pancreatitis, the patient should fast and drink only clean water.
- On 2–3 days from the onset of an exacerbation, it is allowed to take jelly. It contains enough nutrients to meet the body's needs. In case of exacerbation, an oat or milk drink without additives is allowed.
- At the stage of exacerbation subsiding and with chronic pancreatitis, any type of drink is allowed if natural ingredients were used for its preparation. Kissel can reduce the likelihood of exacerbation of inflammation.
Recipes for making oatmeal jelly
There are many different options for making oatmeal jelly. All of them involve the use of a minimum number of products and are not difficult to implement. Below you can find the most popular recipes, which are most often prescribed by gastroenterologists. Also, do not forget to adhere to a strict diet and take medications.

Cooking in a slow cooker
With the advancement of technological progress, it becomes possible to simplify the process of preparing many dishes and drinks, including oat jelly. To accomplish the task, you can use not only a gas stove, but also a multicooker. To make the pancreas work better, you can try a recipe for jelly with kefir starter.
To do this you will need:
- oat flakes - 500 g;
- warm boiled water - 2 liters (for sourdough) and 2 tbsp. (for jelly);
- kefir 1% - 1 tbsp.
Step-by-step cooking process:
- Place the flakes in a three-liter jar and fill them with water. Add kefir.
- Leave the mixture to sit at room temperature for a day. During this time, the fermentation process will begin. If the room is not warm enough, it may take longer (48 hours). You can determine that the mass is ready for further processing by the presence of a white precipitate.
- Stir the oat mixture with a wooden spoon and strain off the liquid.
- Wait until the white sediment in the starter falls to the bottom and clear water remains on top. The latter needs to be drained, and the denser mass should be left for further preparation of the jelly.
- Take 10 tablespoons of the resulting starter and dissolve them in 2 tbsp. water.
- Pour the liquid into the multicooker bowl and set the “Stew” mode for about 10 minutes. It is necessary for the mass to thicken. Once this happens, the product is completely ready for use.
- If any starter remains, it should not be discarded. You can put the mixture in a glass jar and use it to prepare jelly in subsequent times.
Did you know? Oatmeal has a beneficial effect not only on the gastric tract, but also on the nervous system. Its regular consumption can improve the quality of sleep and overcome stress.

From sprouted oats
Sprouted oats are extremely healthy. Kissel based on it is suitable for chronic pancreatitis and at the initial stage of the disease. First you need to germinate the grain.
They do it like this:
- Approximately a handful of seeds are placed in a three-liter jar and filled with water so that it covers them.
- Without covering with a lid, keep the seeds for 24 hours at room temperature.
- A piece of gauze, pre-moistened and folded in half, is placed on a flat plate.
- The planting material is washed and laid out on the fabric. They are covered from above with a piece of gauze, processed similarly to the bottom.
- After about 14 hours, white sprouts will appear on the grains. This will indicate that the product is ready for consumption.
To prepare jelly, take sprouted seeds and 2 tbsp. water. The grains are ground in a blender and boiled for 5 minutes. The resulting jelly is cooled and immediately used for its intended purpose.

Recommendations for drinking the drink
When consuming jelly during pancreatitis, like any other product, certain rules should be followed so as not to provoke a worsening of the condition:
- You should start drinking it with small volumes - no more than half a glass 1-2 times a day. At the stage of introducing a new product, you need to monitor your condition. If, after eating jelly, you feel pain in the stomach or dyspeptic symptoms, you will have to exclude it from the diet, and then consult with a gastroenterologist whether the patient can drink jelly and which drink is better to choose.
- In case of normal tolerance, the approximate volume of the drink can be increased to 1 glass. It is recommended to use it up to 3 times a day.
- Jelly for treating the pancreas should be warm, since cold or hot drinks irritate the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract and provoke an exacerbation of the inflammatory process.
- You can drink jelly during any meal. It is usually recommended to be consumed for breakfast, afternoon snack, or snack: as an independent dish or added to desserts - casseroles, soufflés.
- It is not allowed to make a drink from store-bought semi-finished powder products, since they contain flavorings, preservatives, flavor enhancers and other synthetic chemicals.
Cooking method from Momotov
Another recipe for oatmeal jelly, which helps normalize intestinal microflora and alleviate the symptoms of pancreatitis, was proposed by Dr. Momotov. To prepare the drink using his method, you will need the following ingredients:
- small oat flakes - 300 g;
- large flakes - 4 tbsp. l.;
- kefir - 1/3 cup.
Place oatmeal and kefir in a 3-liter jar, fill it to the top with water, and mix the contents of the container with a wooden spoon. Cover the bottle with a cloth, cover with a lid and place in a warm, dark place for 2 days.
After this time, the fermented mass must be strained through a sieve, pouring the liquid into a separate jar. Oatmeal should be washed in 2 liters of cold boiled water and also poured into glass containers without mixing with the first filtrate.
For dietary nutrition for pancreatitis, it is recommended to cook jelly from the second concentrate: for this, part of the mixture only needs to be brought to a boil.
You should take jelly in small sips 2-3 times a day, 0.5 cups.
What products can you use to cook at home?
In order to prepare jelly, you should use only natural products:
- oats;
- starch;
- fresh fruits and berries or juices and purees from them;
- dried fruits;
- milk;
- vegetables (carrots, pumpkin);
- honey if you need to sweeten the drink.
You should not use citrus fruits or sour berries, such as cranberries, during an exacerbation period.
Fruit and berry jelly
This type of drink is allowed to be taken by patients with pancreatitis only during stable remission. Berries contain a large amount of plant fiber and organic acids, which enhance intestinal motility and increase the secretory activity of the pancreas, therefore, during an exacerbation of the disease, drinks with berries should not be consumed.
It is recommended to use purees, juices, diluted jams, or fresh or frozen berries. Fruit and berry jelly is very tasty and healthy; it saturates the body with vitamins and microelements. The drink is most often brewed with cherries, black currants, strawberries, blueberries, honeysuckle, sea buckthorn, and lingonberries. You should first make sure that you are not allergic to berries.
Milk jelly
This drink can be drunk for any form of disease. It saturates the body with animal protein, calcium, and vitamins.
It also softens and soothes the mucous membranes of the digestive organs, improves motor function, gently stimulates intestinal motility, and eliminates constipation.
It is better to use milk with a reduced fat content, since fatty foods are contraindicated for pancreatitis due to their prolonged digestion and insufficient formation of lipases - enzymes that break down fats. To vary the taste and aroma, you can add spices when cooking milk jelly (nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla), but only during the period of remission of the disease.
Fruit jelly
Fruit drinks are rich in fiber, vitamins C, E, A and others. They resolve a couple of days after the onset of exacerbation of pancreatitis. To prepare fruit jelly, apples, pears, and peaches are used.
A few simple recipes
There are many recipes for jelly for pancreatitis, depending on the composition of the drink and the form of the disease.
Oatmeal jelly Izotov
Although this is not the easiest to prepare, but, according to reviews, it is the most useful of all for pancreatitis, gastritis or cholecystitis. Doctors especially recommend drinking it during the acute phase of the disease.
This healing product needs to be prepared in several stages:
- At the first stage, the starter is prepared: 3 cups of oatmeal, pour half a cup of kefir and 3 liters of water, mix everything and leave this mixture in a dark place for 2 days.
- Then the liquid is drained, and 2 liters of water are added to the flakes again, everything is thoroughly mixed and filtered, separating the flakes. The liquid is left to stand for another 12 hours. As a result, a precipitate is separated - this is an oat concentrate, which is used to prepare jelly. It should be stored in the refrigerator for no longer than 3 weeks.
- To prepare the drink in the future, you need to dilute 50g of this concentrate with 1 liter of water and simmer over low heat until thickened. Then, if the stage of the disease is not acute, you can add berry or fruit jam to the jelly, as well as honey to taste.
You can see the cooking process in more detail in this video.
Apple jelly
It is recommended to drink this drink 4-5 days after the onset of an exacerbation. It is prepared according to a simple recipe:
- You need to boil 2 liters of water and put half a kilogram of chopped apples in it, then boil for 10 minutes.
- Remove the apples from the resulting broth and grind through a sieve or chop with a blender, then put them back into the liquid and put it back on low heat. You can add a little sugar.
- Stir 5 tablespoons of starch in a glass of water and pour this solution into the apple broth in a thin stream, stirring it with a spoon.
- The jelly should be cooked for about 3-4 minutes, then it should be cooled and drunk warm.
Cherry jelly
To prepare it you will also need 2 liters of water, 500 g of pitted cherries, 5 tablespoons of starch.
First you need to boil the berries in water and grind them to a puree. Then add starch dissolved in water to the pan and cook the jelly for 5 minutes.
Using the same recipe, you can prepare cranberry, strawberry, currant, blueberry and other berry drinks.
Pancreatitis is an inflammatory process in the pancreas. To maintain the organ in working condition, patients must strictly adhere to dietary nutrition and know which ingredients are allowed to be consumed and which are not. Is it possible to use jelly for pancreatitis? It’s even necessary, because the drink improves the functioning of not only the pancreas, but also the digestive organs. More on this below.
Izotov's oatmeal jelly recipe
First filtering. Take a clean three-liter glass jar, a 5-liter enamel saucepan and a colander with holes no larger than two mm. If you don't have such a small colander, place sterile gauze in a large colander. Strain the oatmeal jelly into a saucepan, and transfer the dense mass remaining in the colander into a three-liter jar.
Second filtering. Add three times more boiled water to a three-liter jar with dense sediment, close the lid and shake vigorously. The resulting semi-liquid mass must be strained again through a colander into the five-liter saucepan where you have the jelly after the first filtration. The curd remaining in the colander should not be thrown away: it can be used for pancakes or given to the dogs.
Leachate treatment. Thoroughly wash the five-liter jar in which the jelly fermented, and pour the contents of the five-liter pan into it. Re-cork and set aside in a dark place for 16-18 hours. During this time, the liquid will separate into two fractions: below there will be a white precipitate - this is the concentrate for preparing oatmeal jelly, and on top - an almost transparent liquid, let's call it kvass. Pour the kvass into a separate container, and package the concentrate in small jars so that it can be conveniently stored in the refrigerator. It is stored for a maximum of 21 days.
Making oatmeal jelly. Pour two glasses of clean cold water into a small enamel saucepan. Add concentrate to taste: 5-10 spoons. Stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, bring the jelly to a boil and simmer over low heat to the desired consistency. It’s good to add a little salt and butter (olive, sunflower, butter - whatever you like) to the finished oatmeal jelly, and it’s best eaten with bread - very tasty!
The upper liquid, which we called kvass, can be drunk chilled as a healing drink. The taste is peculiar, but many people like it. You can also use kvass when kneading dough for baking - it works on the same principle as kefir or whey.

Mix the two liquids together, put in a warm place and leave for 18 hours. After time, the mixture in the container will be divided into 2 layers: the top layer is liquid (kvass), the bottom layer is oat concentrate.
Using a rubber tube, pour the kvass into jars, close the lids tightly and put them in a cool place. The shelf life is no more than 3 weeks. We perform similar actions with the concentrate.
To prepare jelly, pour 1 cup of kvass into a convenient saucepan and add 55 ml of oat concentrate to it. Stir and cook over medium heat until thickened. The medicinal cocktail is taken in small sips throughout the day.

Cranberry
Doctors are quite careful about the use of cranberries in the diet of patients with gastrointestinal diseases, even after the disappearance of painful symptoms.

It is best to avoid consuming cranberry jelly due to the high likelihood of stress on the pancreas.
Currant
Black currant has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and is a source of large amounts of organic acids and plant fiber, which, during exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis, will only worsen the patient’s well-being.
Therefore, blackcurrant jelly for pancreatitis is possible only at the stage of stable remission for several months.
Red currant has a pronounced choleretic effect; in the presence of concomitant cholecystitis, it can cause an exacerbation of the disease.
It is better to give preference to other berry jelly (from raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, lingonberries).
How to drink jelly correctly
Gastroenterologists have developed rules for taking the drink, since frequent use can lead to an exacerbation of the disease.
- On the first, second and third days of manifestation of symptoms of pancreatitis, you should completely refuse food; the best thing to do would be to drink plain clean water. It is important to leave the digestive tract organs alone and also to prevent the production of pancreatic enzymes.
- On day 4, you can introduce jelly into your diet - oatmeal or milk. The daily norm should not exceed 2/3 cup.
- After 5 days of the disease, the dose can be increased to 200 ml. You should also avoid berry and fruit types.
- After the signs of the disease disappear, you can drink medicinal jelly without limiting yourself.
It is worth remembering that drinks with sour fruits and berries should not be consumed in large quantities (no more than 500 ml), in order to avoid side effects on the mucous membrane of the digestive tract.
There are many recipes for preparing a healing drink. The main thing is to follow all the rules for choosing products, preparation and dosage. It is important to include jelly in the diet of not only a sick person, but also a healthy one for preventive purposes, to prevent digestive problems.
